I bring a practical approach to therapy with over 25 years of experience, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and motivational interviewing to help people build skills to manage difficult problems. I work with adults, adolescents and families. I am experienced in working with individuals suffering from various conditions, including depression, anxiety, Bipolar, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, and schizophrenia. I have extensive training in Brainspotting, a trauma focused therapy, which has been effectively put to use with many of my patients since 2018. I have a passion for working with and helping provide a safe place for recovery to individuals who have experienced trauma and self-esteem issues through chaotic homelives of origin, abuse, as well as to medical providers, veterans, and first responders who have experienced work-related trauma, etc.
Originally from West Virginia, I moved to North Carolina shortly after completing my graduate degree at Marshall University in 1996. Since then, I have worked as a licensed psychological associate providing therapy in a variety of settings including outpatient community mental health clinics, private practice, residential and in-home services.
I am married with two children. Outside of my therapy work I enjoy time with family, travelling, writing and playing music, and learning about new cultures and cuisines.
