Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Family Therapist
(Accepting new clients)
As a counselor, I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families who have concerns related to stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and self-esteem. I am especially passionate about supporting people and family systems as they navigate new challenges. In my previous two years of counseling experience, I have supported college students within a university setting and families of all ages within a medical setting.
My primary approach to counseling is an integration of multicultural, existential, and dialectical behavior therapies; and all approaches are trauma informed. I enjoy helping my clients explore the cultural background of their family and the role that it has played in their lives while we uncover individual values and strengths. I also believe in the therapeutic power of play and the expressive arts, including journaling, poetry, and painting, and I enjoy incorporating these techniques into my counseling practice.
My primary role is to empower you by providing non-judgmental support and unconditional positive regard while facilitating your journey towards greater health and wellness.
I hold a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Educational Development (CED) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In addition to my counseling degree, I also hold a Master of Arts in Teaching, with a focus in Communication Studies, from Webster University in Saint Louis, Missouri, and I am a National Board-Certified Teacher. As an experienced educator, I am very passionate about sharing the latest research about developmental needs to support the mental health of parents and children.
