Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Ages 13 and up
Hello, and I’m so glad you’re here. I’m a psychiatric nurse practitioner and am licensed to see ages 13 and above. While I mostly prescribe medication for general mental health diagnoses, I also provide counseling support, education about mental health, including non-medication options for managing symptoms such as cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) and nature-based therapy. I like to think of medication as being just one of the possible tools in your kit.
My approach is grounded in compassion and empathy, and I wholeheartedly recognize the uniqueness of everyone’s experience. When you work with me, your story matters more than anything. I’ll listen to your concerns and together we’ll figure out the path that feels right for you, adjusting it along the way.
My undergraduate degree is from Northeastern University in Boston, and my graduate degree is from the Medical University of SC in Charleston. I have studied ketamine therapy at Polaris Insight Center in San Francisco and The Pearl Institute in Waynesville, NC, two organizations on the cutting edge of PTSD and mental health treatment and research. In May 2026 I began a dual certificate program with Association of Nature and Forest Therapy/Nature as Medicine and look forward to weaving this nature-based therapy into my everyday clinical work – because I too need more than one tool!
I’m from upstate SC and spent the first part of my life on a big farm that we shared with a small herd of Irish ponies, our dogs, and cats (and my miscellaneous rescued small wildlife animals). My family moved out of the US for a couple of years when I was 10, and then up to the Boston area. After college in Boston, I moved to Charleston SC, then eventually landed in Asheville about 15 years ago. I am happy to now call the Blue Ridge Mountains my home! I have two grown children, two dogs (Border Collie/Lab and a Jack Russell/Pug), and one cat. When I have any spare time, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, traveling, the creative arts, reading, or just birdwatching in my yard.
