John Morehead, MS, LCMHC

Starting in July

Hello! I’m John Morehead. I specialize in working with adults, adolescents, couples, and families to address a variety of mental health concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, other problem behaviors, and difficult life transitions. I bring over a decade of experience in substance abuse treatment and general mental health practice, with a particular passion for working with individuals facing addictions and trauma.

As a DBT-certified therapist and EMDR-trained clinician, I believe in the power of evidence-based therapies to create lasting change. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients address surface-level issues with thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. EMDR, on the other hand, provides a powerful way to process past trauma and transform the core beliefs that shape how we see the world and ourselves.

I have extensive experience working with individuals facing co-occurring disorders, including severe mental health conditions such as bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and other psychotic illnesses. My approach centers on creating a safe, trusting environment where clients can be open and honest without judgment, fostering a relationship of healing and growth.

As a Christian with a background in ministry, I respect the diverse spiritual needs of my clients and welcome individuals from all backgrounds, including Protestants, Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox Christians, and those who prefer a non-religious approach. While I draw from my own faith in my work, I ensure that therapy remains focused on your needs, with no pressure for spiritual discussion unless it’s something you seek.

Having experienced my own struggles with mental health, I bring both professional expertise and personal empathy to my practice. Outside of work, I enjoy serving in my church community, spending time with my wife and two children, and working on car restoration projects in my home shop.

I look forward to partnering with you on your journey toward healing and growth.
