So, you’ve finally made the choice to look for a therapist, but the options out there are vast and overwhelming. You’re looking for someone who is real. You’re hoping to come across a therapist that isn’t just knowledgeable but has lived a life full of experiences where they too have faced life’s challenges head-on. You’re not just looking for someone with the right education and skills, but also someone who is relatable and down to earth; someone who is just as human as you are. Hi, my name is Megan, and I’m really glad you’re here.
As a person-centered and relational/cultural-centered therapist, I believe that our relationships with others are one of the most important and influential factors in our lives. The therapeutic relationships created between me and my clients are no exception. I aim to show up genuinely as myself with my clients because I believe that my authenticity in the therapeutic space is important for creating the trust needed for clients to share their most vulnerable stories, wounds, goals, and dreams with me. I believe my clients are the best experts about themselves, and I aim to be a collaborative guide with my clients where not only are they learning from me, but I’m also learning from them. I use an eclectic approach to therapy where I incorporate various interventions, coping skills, and activities from evidence-based practices centered on the client’s values, perspectives, interests, and strengths. I describe my practice as trauma-informed, culturally competent, gender-affirming, harm-reductionist, attachment-informed, and sex-positive.
I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families as they tackle whatever concerns and difficulties they may be facing. My main areas of focus include trauma, ADHD, anxiety, depression, emotion dysregulation, grief/loss, identity, LGBTQIA+ concerns, family conflicts, relationships, and sex and intimacy concerns.
For some of you, starting therapy is a beginning filled with excitement and hope. For others, this is a big and scary moment of change and uncertainty. No matter what feelings you’re having about therapy, I welcome you to my space. I’m honored to be part of your healing journey, and I look forward to meeting you and hearing your story.
