Have you ever felt the world heavy on your shoulders, unable to express feelings or understand why thoughts race through your mind? Do you find it difficult to talk to someone openly because they may not understand how you feel? I have felt that way on many occasions, and like you, I asked for help. Think of counseling as safe space for mental health rehabilitation, a space to talk about the things that worry you, aspects of your life that may be confusing, scary, and difficult to navigate.
As the daughter of a Foreign Diplomat, relocating and living in a foreign country brought on an abundant knowledge of cultural diversity and awareness. This worldly experience broadened my knowledge of how individuals perceive and function in society. Moving constantly opened a new world to new places and experiences. One of those experiences is what drove my passion for counseling. In this field, I gained experience and had a significant exposure of mental health issues, social problems encompassing poverty, trauma, violence, death, and child abuse. I consciously became aware of human suffering and was quickly exposed to real world issues. These encounters fortified the skills needed to be an empathic and sympathetic counselor.
I can sympathize and understand how difficult and overwhelming taking those first steps towards counseling may be for you. We can take those steps together towards a journey of healing, catharsis, and mindfulness. Together we will work in a safe, non-judgmental space of mental wellness, while encompassing the benefits of counseling where you will begin your healing journey. You will acquire the tools needed to manage and decrease symptoms.
I am currently accepting new clients struggling with Depressive and Anxiety Disorders, Trauma and Stressor Related Disorders, Disruptive, Impulse-Control and Conduct Disorders, Grief- Death and Loss, and Relational Problems. I utilize research-based approaches and interventions that are unique to everyone, such as:
