Adolescents, Adults, Couples, and Family Therapist
(Accepting new clients)
My name is Jenny and I believe the beauty of counseling resides in the therapeutic partnership created between the client and counselor. I view counseling as a safe space for a human being to share concerns on their mind while giving themselves permission to be vulnerable by virtue of the climate created between the client and counselor. Through this value system, the client can discover all the remarkable strengths they have within themselves. I counsel adolescents/teenagers, emerging adults, adults, couples and families.
I guide all counseling partnerships from a person-centered approach where the core principles embrace empathy, unconditional positive regard, validation and nonjudgmental acceptance regardless of race, religion, sexual/gender identity, cultural values or socioeconomic status. I believe our past has the capacity to impact our present. From a psychoanalytic lens, our past experiences often dictate our thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviors. I believe we restructure our present by examining and making sense of our past.
Along with these therapeutic modalities, I counsel from a trauma focused perspective and offer Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. CBT is among one of the most effective treatments with clients managing depression, anxiety, and processing past traumas. Narrative therapy encourages the individual to reexamine their thoughts so that they can rewrite their personal narrative. Lastly, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy allows clients to explore in-depth mental and emotional processes to better identify, acknowledge and accept their emotions. I specialize in counseling clients managing depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, and interpersonal concerns including identity and self-worth.
You can find me in the scenic West End area of Winston Salem overlooking Haynes Park. Mental health is vital to all aspects of our lives. Counseling is therapeutic maintenance that allows us to manage an array of challenges. You, and your mental health, are worthy of care, compassion and treatment. To maximize time for this level of care, I offer flexible hours both days and evenings
